An access log is a complete list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a certain Internet site. Each and every file which was requested for whatever reason will be listed, so if you have one page with 3 embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log normally offers the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Occasionally you could also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The information which an access log file features is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a PC and used to prepare reports on the overall performance of a site, independent of the web statistics that your hosting server may have created.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting
Our custom-built Hepsia CP features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. Once you sign in to your cloud website hosting
account and visit this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names
and subdomains you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you'll see a download link together with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and view it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect immediately, so if you don't need one, you'll be able to stop it with simply a click from the very same section of the Control Panel. You shall still have the ability to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server
account with us, you will have the option to enable or deactivate the generation of access logs with only a few mouse clicks within your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You'll find this feature inside the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access once you sign in. All it takes for our system to start generating logs is a click on the On button which you will see there. The feature can be enabled individually for any website regardless of whether it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you'll find a detailed list of all the hosts within that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with a click and you may then see it manually or use some software on your PC. The log generation may be stopped by simply switching the On option to Off in the Logs section of your CP.
