Having total control of your domain names is something quite necessary and to be able to access and edit the DNS records for any of them is one of the things you need to look for when you search for a registration or a cloud website hosting provider. You may have heard of the so-called “name servers” that show where a domain is hosted, but below them there is also a whole group of records, for example the A record, which is the IP address of the server hosting the site, and the MX records, which show the server that deals with the e-mails for a specific domain name. These records are employed if you would like have your site with one service provider and the emails with another, for instance. You may also use a domain address for a non-website service or forward the traffic to it by using special records. Many companies ask for an extra fee to give access to edit certain DNS records apart from the name servers.
